The two key documents for learning how to use Image Information metrics and the theory behind them are
- Image quality testing based on information metrics is a concise tutorial/short course/textbook for camera image quality testing, primarily for machine vision, focusing on the new metrics derived from information theory, which are highly predictive of camera performance. Not overly technical. Emphasizes the importance of both spatial and tonal measurements.
- Image information metrics from slanted edges (Adapted from a paper presented at Electronic Imaging 2024) is a detailed technical introduction to the new information metrics with the full set of equations.
